Trainings, workshops, and conferences are a cornerstone of our culture of learning and clinical excellence. However, many these spaces have grown increasingly bereft of inclusivity, professionalism, principle, and introspection. Between rational fears deterring professionals of targeted demographics from participating in communal learning spaces and the real and immutable trauma increasingly experienced by those who brave the events nonetheless, individual clinicians and our community on whole are left injured and without access.
This two-hour workshop will provide participants with a broad overview of the preparation, survival, and recovery phases of moving through cultural incompetence and abusive behavior at professional learning events and within professional association spaces. Participants will be guided through a decision tree-based model around attendance, participation, and advocacy choices as well as best practices in documentation, allyship, and resourcing.
As the collective gains momentum, we will have more and more to report and are looking forward to sharing great news with you!
